Neues auf die Ohren von Christine and The Queens: Dieser Tage hat die französische Musikerin mit “5 Dollars” einen neuen Song aus dem bald erscheinenden Album “Chris” veröffentlicht. Ein Video gibt es auch gleich dazu. Erneut hat Colin Solal Cardo Regie geführt.
“The song is so tender, so disheveled,” erklärt Christine. “It’s dealing with some kind of love – the kind you can buy. It’s a literal interpretation. A note for a shag – how surprisingly soothing this can be! The power ratio runs clear, like water in your hands; it becomes a pure gesture of love, of ultimate consent.”

Im Video übernimmt Christine die Rolle der Ausgestoßenen, einer von den unsichtbaren Rändern der Gesellschaft. Wir beobachten sie dabei, wie sie sich bereit macht – für wen oder was bleibt indes im Verborgenen. “The closet is segmented into two racks – suits and bondage. From there, I wouldn’t advise to conclude anything too drastic, since you’re glaring yourself, in an obscene fashion – voyeur. The hustler is also someone that allows you to project onto him or her, before disappearing to leave you alone with your phantasmes.”
“Chris” erscheint am 21. September. Es ist der Nachfolger zu Christine and The Queens’ Debütalbum “Chaleur Humaine”, das in Frankreich und Großbritannien die Charts stürmte und sich weltweit mittlerweile 1.3 Millionen Mal verkauft hat.
