Breakfast
First discovery of the day was a lovely little vegan cafe in a nearby village called Bottrop, which had amazing Swiss-style milk rice. After a good milk-rice pudding, you can do anything. (foto: Basia Bulat)
Second-Hand
There was a bit of time in the morning before we had to arrive at the venue for soundcheck, which means there was time for one of my favourite activities, checking out the second hand shops around and see what kind of treasures are hiding there. We found this great store called “All kind of second hand second hand shop” which by the name alone I knew was going to be amazing. (foto: Basia Bulat)
Mandolin Harp
The first thing that caught my eye was this beautiful mandolin harp. (foto: Basia Bulat)
Angels
I also was drawn to this table of angels especially because I have a new single called “My Angel” and I feel compelled to photograph cherubs every time I see them now. (foto: Basia Bulat)
The winner
The winner of the day was this spring green suit that I found, and I will be wearing a lot on this tour! (foto: Basia Bulat)
Transformation
Next up was soundcheck at the venue, which is a wonderful Art Deco eraswimming pool that was converted into a concert venue and theatre. I really love this tendency in Germany, to convert places with a different history into places dedicated to art. (foto: Basia Bulat)
Swimming Pool
I love how you can see the floor tiles of the bottom of the swimming pool here. (foto: Basia Bulat)
Showtime
And then itʼs showtime for me and getting to meet the lovely people of Oberhausen ! I was so happy to be invited to be the support act for my friends in Efterklang on their German shows , and all their fans are such music lovers and listeners, so the show itself was very sweet. (foto: Basia Bulat)
Jukebox Heroes
There was a great jukebox in the backstage so after the gig which set the scene for a great little backstage hang out with the Efterklang crew. (foto: Basia Bulat)
The End
And at the end of the night, we pack up, get some sleep and start all over again tomorrow :) Thanks for coming along with me on tour – if youʼre reading this far I hope Iʼll get to see you in Germany when Iʼm back on tour this June! (foto: Basia Bulat)
