Ein Video wie ein LSD-Trip: Diese Woche ist mit „Hey“ die neue Single von Oscar Lang erschienen. Der Song ist auch auf seiner soeben erschienenen EP „bops etc.“ zu hören. Das obskure Video ist dazu ist unser Clip der Woche.
Der 18-jährige Londonder hatte zuletzt mit Künstlerinnen und Künstlern wie Beabadoobee oder Girl In Red gearbeitet und selbst diverse Songs veröffentlicht, die ihn langsam aber sicher zu einem echten Namen auf der britischen Insel haben werden lassen.

Lang über die neue Single:
„We wanted to just capture us fucking about and playing like we usually do, cause the song is about being happy and just not giving a fuck – therefore, no fucks were given, though it was definitely a struggle with all the lights, cameras, and being squeezed into a boiler suit, slowly being sous vide’d (I had to Google the spelling of that and I’m still not sure I got it right, it just sort of looks wrong). Also, I wanted to make something that I could watch when a bit frazzled and have a classic ‘woaaaahhhh’ stoner moment – and having the camera do a 360, so it looks like I’m constantly walking, definitely adds to the stone factor.”
Seine selbstveröffentlichten Platten „Teenage Hurt“ und „Silk“ von 2018 geben den Ton für Oscar Langs Stil an: Wankende Psych-Hooks über verträumt wabernden Gitarren und Texte, mit denen er sich mal eben hunderttausende Hörerinnen und Hörer aufgetan hat. „Hey“ ist ein echtes Highlight unter den fünf Tracks der neue EP „bops etc.“, ein Gegengift zum Stumpfsinn des Alltags wie Lang selbst sagt. „For this EP I wanted to create something that would help people escape the boringness of everything that’s going on in the world and just enjoy themselves, smile and laugh.“
