The Kooks haben mit “Let’s Go Sunshine” ihr fünftes Album angekündigt. Die Platte soll am 31. August 2018 via Lonely Cat / AWAL Recordings/ Kobalt erscheinen. Bereits vorab hat die Band mit “No Pressure” und “All The Time” zwei neue Songs veröffentlicht. Im Juni sind The Kooks als Support für The Rolling Stones in Berlin und Stuttgart dabei.
Den Nachklang ihrer kürzlich ausverkauften UK-Arena-Tour noch im Ohr und mit mehr als einer Milliarde Streams, wollen The Kooks mit “Let’s Go Sunshine” ihren Anspruch auf einen Platz im “Great British Songbook” untermauern. Frontsänger Luke über die Entstehung des neuen Albums:

“This one was about defining who we are, we were asking the questions. It was a fractured start, we went into the studio in 2015 continuing down the path we set out on our last studio album “listen” and discovered it wasn’t what we wanted to make and wasn’t really the kooks. So we scrapped it and started again. I really went on a mission to write the best songs I’d ever written before bringing them to the band, i stewed over every word. It had to be our rubber soul, Lola, definitely maybe. Proper British lineage. I came from a dark place at the start had a lotta heartbreak and then falling in love in the middle of the album, the lyrics reflect that. From ‘fractured and dazed’ to ‘no pressure’. It’s gotta be our most exciting album, and it should get you dancing.”
Die Kooks starteten ihre Karriere 2006 mit ihrem unaufhaltsamen Debüt “Inside In / Inside Out”, das Ende letzten Jahres fünfachen Platinstatus erreichte. Mit drei weiteren Studioalben, darunter einem “Best of”, startete die Band eine Reihe von Welttourneen (darunter ihre bevorstehende ausverkaufte US-Tournee), wurde mehrfach ausgezeichnet und von Kritikern gefeiert.
2018 werden die Kooks übrigens The Rolling Stones bei ihren Konzerten in Berlin und Stuttgart supporten:
