My Soundtrack: The Legendary Tigerman

Die Portugiesen verstehen was vom Blues. Allen voran The Legendary Tigerman aka Paulo Furtado.

1) Suicide – Ghost Rider
I´m a big Suicide fan, and i think they´re one of my biggest influences. I love their hypnotic, rough sound.
The way the song starts is just amazing.. the fucked up bass synth, super simple, the second synth, then the voice, then the delay building up the screams… Man, its just TOO GOOD!

One of my all time favorite band, Los Zafiros were born in Cuba in the the late fities/early sixties, and their blend of doo wop with calypso and rock´n´roll is absolutelty unique. The way the vocals are arranged is pretty crazy too, with bird and jungle sounds being incorporated in the songs. They were huge in Cuba for a decade.

3) The Cramps – Garbage man
The first time I heard The Cramps i just wanted to start a band, ´cause that´s what good rock´n´roll does to you. Garbage man is so, so strong. Brian Gregory´s fucked up fuzz guitar solo (rated #57 on the #100 worst guitar solos in guitar world´s site, ahaha) is one of the best ever, for me, pure energy & raw art, wich i guess the people on guitar world can not recognize.. And then you have the drums pounding, Ivy´s guitar, Lux Interior´s amazing vocals and lyrics. This is one of the most exiting moments in the history of rock´n´roll.

4) Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds – From her to eternity
For me this is the best Bad Seeds song EVER. Amazing lyrics, the song just grows and grows on tension, and the amazing dialogue between Blixa Bargeld´s guitar and Cave´s voice is outta this world. The piano going on ,and on, and on, and on, crazy drums.
From her to eternity!
Genious.

From her to eternity!

Genial.

5) Elizabeth Cotten – Freight Train
This song gets me close to crying, everytime i hear it. Its so beautiful, and the way Elizabeth plays it, left handed with the stings upside down, doing that crazy guitar picking and singin´with her soft, fragile voice is just perfect. The blues can´t get any better than this:

„When I die, oh bury me deep
Down at the end of old Chestnut Street
Place the stones at my head and feet
And tell them all I’ve gone to sleep“

She´s my favorite, of all times.

„When I die, oh bury me deep
Down at the end of old Chestnut Street
Place the stones at my head and feet
And tell them all I’ve gone to sleep“

Sie ist meine Lieblingskünstlerin aller Zeiten.
