24 Stunden mit … Chantal Acda

HORSES

I always had two passions. Horses and music. I have 2 Icelandic horses and one Portuguese. It might seem as if they are two very different things but they are so deeply connected. A horse will directly react to energy.Instead of words/thoughts. When I am working with horses I need to directly use my instincts. That same place is the place where my music comes from. So having both in my life feels so healthy. (foto: acda)

STUDIO

I love studiowork. I was recording a filmscore last week. It feels so far away from the real world. A different place. A sort of hide-out from the silliness of this world. I love to get lost in recordings. To not think and to especially have no sense of time.  (foto: acda)

VOCALS

I have this little studio in the basement. This is the place I normally record my vocals. I love it that nobody can hear me there. Except the neighbours but he is deaf so I can make as much noise as I want to! I hope he will never move out. On this photo I am recording vocals for another musician who lives in Kentucky. So much fun with this digital world that we can do this in Corona times without traveling. In this way we are still connected! (foto: acda)

KIDS

I am a musician but I am also a mum. Not always easy. The kids have been going to concerts with me since they were one week old. They have seen many backstage-rooms and festivals. After a couple of years it became their favorite place (candy). When I was a kid I used to go to concerts with my mum too (she was an operasinger). I always saw what singing did with her and I told myself: whatever I will do when I am older, I want to be in the same passionate place. It’s very special to be able to share this with your children. ERIC

I am together with my drummer. We have been for 10 years. I know it can be a great risk to make music with your love, but in our case 1+1=3. He is an amazing musician and we travel the same worlds when we make music together. It’s this weird form of intimacy and deep understanding that is even hard to find in daily contact. I am very grateful that we can lift eachother up.  (foto: acda)
