Eine Gitarre und ihre Stimme – viele der zwölf Lieder, die Silly Boy Blue aka Ana Benabdelkarim auf ihrem Debütalbum “Breakup Songs” veröffentlicht hat, brauchen gar nicht mehr, um zu wirken. Andere Tracks wiederum erforderten die Produktions-Zauberei und eine Fülle von Rhythmen und Arrangements. Es ist ein Album, das auch von diesen Kontrasten lebt. Die Aufnahmen begannen in ihrer Heimatstadt Paris mit Apollo Noir, der in der Normandie von Sam Tiba vom Club Cheval begleitet wurde, der ebenfalls für die Produktion verantwortlich ist. Aber Ana arbeitete auch am Mischpult und hat drei Songs selbst produziert. “Es war ein feministisches Statement,” sagt sie. Für uns hat die Französin kurz vor dem Album-Release dieses 24-Stunden-Feature auf die Beine gestellt. Frankreich befand sich zu dieser Zeit noch im Lockdown.
Mornings

Apollo Noir
When I can, I go to Apollo Noir’s studio. He’s one of my producers, we’ve been working together for my upcoming album, with Sam Tiba. We listen to new songs I’ve been writing, and work on those. We talk a lot about music, too. He’s one of the person I’ve been wanting to meet my whole life because he gets the way I write and feel things. (foto: silly boy blue)
Le Père Lachaise
If I have the time, I go for a walk around my neighborhood. It’s a picture from Le Père Lachaise, which is one of the places I’m allowed to go to during the lockdown (1km rule…). It’s peaceful, and it helps me calm down. (foto: silly boy blue)
The Beginning
I kinda always end up writing music, so here’s a picture of the little controller I usually start songs with. I can spend 10 minutes or 7 hours in front of this one and my computer, I never know. Lockdown hasn’t help this haha. (foto: silly boy blue)
Cat Content
I’m a loner, but I’m glad to have her with me. She keeps me company, and she sticks around when I write songs. As I don’t see friends during lockdown, she’s sometimes the only living thing around me and she doesn’t know that but it’s nice. (foto: silly boy blue)
Carnets Intimes
I struggle to find sleep, and reading is the only way for me to shut everything that’s in my head, even though I’ve got some trouble to focus on a book. I’m reading « Carnets Intimes » by Sylvia Plath, whom I love. I read until I fall asleep, if I’m not working on songs. In either cases, I tend to be awake late at night.
