Jetzt hat sich das Duo aus Utrecht – Stefany und Dennis – Zeit für unsere “My Soundtrack”-Reihe genommen. Wir warten derweil sehnsüchtig auf das Album der beiden.

Fleetwood Mac – The Chain
The whole album (Rumours) is amazing but “The Chain” is an amazing song with so much tension it always excites me hearing it. The way the vocals work together is amazing and how they build up towards the ending is so fascinating. The fade comes to soon though, it could have lasted 1 minute longer if it was up to me. This is still a big inspiration for me.
Das ganze Album (“Rumours”) ist wunderbar, aber das wunderbare “The Chain” mit seiner inneren Spannung regt mich jedes Mal auf, wenn ich es höre. Die Art und Weise, wie hier die einzelnen Gesänge zusammen funktionieren, ist wunderbar – und wie das Ende aufgebaut wird, ist einfach nur faszinierend. Das Ausfaden kommt dann leider etwas zu früh, der Song hätte ruhig noch eine Minute länger dauern können, wenn es nach mir ginge. Das Lied ist für mich immer noch eine große Inspiration.
Paul Simon – Homeless
Again the whole album is a masterpiece which I would take with to Mars. “Homeless” is my first serious encounter (and probably for a lot of people) with the power of an African Choir. The way of the voices creating so much dynamic and emotion is mind expanding. Even if you cannot understand all the lyrics you just feel the spiritual depth of these people. From very young on this has been one of my favourite albums. Later on in life I got the chance to experience a real african choir and it was one of the best moments in life. This song always reminds me of that.
Auch dieses Album ist ein einziges Meisterwerk, das ich mit auf den Mars nehmen würde. “Homeless” ist meine erste ernsthafte Begegnung (wohl für viele andere Menschen auch) mit der Kraft afrikanischen Chor-Gesangs. Die Art und Weise, wie die Stimmen hier Dynamik und Emotion entfalten, ist der Wahnsinn. Selbst wenn man den Text nicht versteht, fühlt man die tiefe Spiritualität dieser Leute. Eines meiner liebsten Alben, und das seit ich sehr jung war. Später hatte ich die Chance, einen afrikanischen Chor live zu erleben und das war einer der besten Momente meines Lebens. Dieser Song erinnert mich immer daran.
Radiohead – Ideoteque
This is one of my favourite songs that Radiohead has done, it is so hard to pick one because their whole catalog is just so good. “Ideoteque” has been a bridge for me into electronic music. The beat, the synths and soundscape is really fascinating in this song. Thom Yorke’s vocals are so eerie and great at the same time. Nigel Godrich (the producer) has done such a good job on this song that it goes on to inspire me for the coming decade.
Einer meiner liebsten Radiohead-Songs. Es ist schwer, da einen herauszufiltern, der ganze Katalog der Band ist einfach so gut. “Idioteque” war schon immer meine Brücke zur elektronischen Musik. Der Beat, die Synthie-Flächen und die Klanglandschaft faszinieren mich. Thom Yorkes Gesang ist so unheimlich und großartig zugleich. Nigel Godrich (der Produzent) hat hier großartige Arbeit geleistet, weshalb mich der Song wohl auch noch in der nächsten Dekade inspirieren wird.
Camille – Le Fil
Camilles album came out in 2005, during that time my interest in music started to grow. At that time I wasn’t a singer yet and I remember one day a friend showed me this song on her brand new mp3 player on our school court yard. At that time this was so different to everything I had heard before and it opened a whole new dimension of music and art for me. Camilles album is arranged by human voice and body sounds only. I also had the chance to see this LIVE and until this day it was the best concert of my life.
Camilles Album erschien 2005, und zu jener Zeit entwickelte ich ein ernsteres Interesse an Musik. Ich war damals noch kein Sänger. Ich erinnere mich noch, wie mir auf dem Schulhof eine Freundin den Song auf ihrem brandneuen mp3-Player vorspielte. Er war so anders als all das, was ich zuvor jemals gehört hatte und eröffnete mir damit eine ganz neue musikalische und künstlerische Welt. Camilles Album wird nur durch die menschliche Stimme und Körperlaute arrangiert. Ich konnte das mal live erleben – es war das bisher beste Konzert meines Lebens.

People always told me I had a funny voice. One day a friend showed me this uplifting song and I realised she had a funny voice too! This is one of the songs that would always make me happy because of it’s funky piano.
Die Leute haben mir immer gesagt, ich hätte eine komische Stimme. Irgendwann zeigte mir ein Freund diesen aufheiternden Song und ich merkte schnell: Die Frau hier hatte auch eine komische Stimme. Der Song macht mich mit seinem funky Piano immer wieder glücklich.
