My Soundtrack: Fauna Twin

1. R. Stevie Moore – So much personality

Well, R. Stevie Moore is one of these unique magic druid still alive and such a smart songwriter. I absolutely love the honesty of his recordings, lyrics and music. He seems truly dedicated to his art and somehow detached from the system surrounding it. He is for me one of the more complete artist on earth, a real genius. I’d just love to peep his world through the huge keyhole that his music creates. This guy and his music make you feel human.

2. Of Montreal – The past is grotesque animal

Kevin Barnes is another unique sorcerer from a dense and rich dimension which i feel privileged to know. This tunes is a hybrid combo in between a fresh « diabolo menthe » and a cappucino. It’s soft and sharp. I love the idea of an evolving theme in music and this song builds up until it reaches the eruption via a genuine story, that won’t feel fake when you’ll hear it. What’s good about it is that you just feel inside the story, walking Kevin’s muddy boots at the speed of light. I did listen to that song compulsively, on and on again. PS: When you reach the lyrics « underground wires » and that the sound coming straight after that is properly matching theses words, it’s for me le coup de grâce, a delicious apotheosis for the ears and the brain.

3. King Crimson – Frame by Frame

King Crimson is the archetype of my cup of tea within the progressive music world. This a stunning song to listen within the unity of its album « Discipline »
which is a killer. The melody is catchy and will stick with you as soon as listened. The precision and the feel of freedom through their music has to capture your attention otherwise, you might be dead.

4. T. Rex – I love to boogie

I choose that for a sentimental reason that I won’t reveal but it’s for sure a direct lift to my heart. Who wouldn’t like to Boogie?

Who wouldn’t like to boogie?

5. Mr Bungle – Goodbye sober day

This is the marriage of intelligence and obviousness, the structure and the imagination in the song is a free ticket to space. The excellence of song-writing. Mike Patton is a maze, and getting lost in it isn’t a problem.

6. Nina Simone – My baby don’t care

Well i was four, and that’s the first song in my life i was hooked on, the video with the cat singing was recorded on my neighbor’s cassette, and the night we went over to there for food and i’ve watched it on and on again. This night i had an argument with a little girl (my neighbor) she pinched me really bad the arm and i bit her neck almost to the blood. I had no idea about the vampire concept.

7. Hippies Vs Ghosts – Diego Garcia

I love this song for everything it’s embodying, it’s story is relatively unknown and a bit of light on it is definitely not too much. People just been basically evicted, deported from their land by US/UK forces because it was in a strategic place military-speaking. Their dogs’ve been killed one per one, and this, is just one of many atrocious details of this awful side of history. The sharpness of the production and the building of percussions is like a pyramid, solid and geometric.
The harmonies are amazing and tense, such a nice song for such a horrible story.
